Germantown resident Adelaida Consuelo Zacarias Chacon, 53, and 40-year-old Philadelphia resident Reyna Gomez Lopez have both been charged with conspiring to commit murder for an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
According to police, in June, detectives were contacted by a case worker at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Family Justice Center after being tipped off that Zacarias Chacon had attempted to hire someone to kill her ex.
Investigators say that it was later determined that Zacarias Chacon paid Gomez Lopez $1,000 to find someone willing to commit the murder after locating a bank transfer confirming the payment was delivered.
Both were taken into custody by Montgomery County Task Force Officers assigned to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, authorities announced on Wednesday.
Zacarias Chacon was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree solicitation to commit murder.
Gomez was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and is awaiting extradition back to Montgomery County.
